my oldest child is nuts. 3 year olds can be challenging. thank goodness they are also hilarious!
this is an armoire that is in a little nook in sarah kate's room. once upon a time i used it as a t.v. cabinet. the t.v. has been replaced with alot of pjs and nightgowns.
and apparently it is also "dumbo's house". when i went into sk's room to get her up from "nap" i didn't see her anywhere. i thought maybe she had crawled into her "castle" (aka. tunnel/tent), but then the doors to the armoire popped open......
"hey there, mommy! i'm in dumbo's house! this is dumbo, would you like to come in and say hello?!"
the child pretends all.day.long.
"naptime" doesn't always result in an actual nap for sk. it has been "quiet time" for quite a while now with sleep happening just every once in a while. now, naptime is playtime! i can hear her up there cooking in her kitchen or getting books to take to her bed or playing with all her toys that she sleeps with. but hanging out in "dumbo's house" was a first!
sarah kate really wanted to go to "pizza planet" today for lunch (aka...mellow mushroom). hayes has been so needy lately - needs to be held, but not sitting down - so i was nervous about going but i knew it would be nice to get out so we went. hayes slept thankfully.
"pizza planet" is from toy story so of course she had to take woody and buzz along. they sat in the booth with her and she said they had a real nice time;)
i feel like she's looking so grown these days....
she is a big time collector. she gets bags and goes around the house collecting things. truthfully, it's about to drive me insane because i can't find things!! after many many discussions she has gotten better with only collecting her things - not mine. anyway, this little dress (which she hated because it wasn't smocked or long enough) has pockets (she liked that though!) so of course she went collecting....
funny, crazy girl. "crazy girl don't you know that i love you?! i wouldn't dream of going nowhere. silly sarah kate come here let me hold you. have i told you lately, i love you like crazy girl!" (you know sk loves that song - we love our country music sarah kate!!!)
today was a big day for a couple of really special people in our family.
ava and bryce started kindergarten today and i've been so emotional about it all day. i'm so happy for them! they are going to love it so much!!! BUT, weren't they just born? i'm not sure how 5 years can go by quite so fast, but it certainly does. one reason that it makes me so emotional is because sarah kate is only 2 years behind them. that's not alot. slow down time!
i stole this pic from ashley's facebook page. thanks, ashley=) okay, a few things to note about this pic. number 1: it is WAY to dark outside for babies to have to be getting up out of their cozy bed, eat breakfast and get in the car to go to school. it's ridiculous. i can't remember their start time, but i think ash said they are tardy after 7:40. crazy. i'm going to be in a heap of trouble when sk starts K since i can barely get her to pre-k by 9. number 2: ava has on the little straight dress and brycie has on a smocked dress. their choice i know. and it's interesting to me because bryce is 5 going on 17 so you'd think she'd opt for the one ava is wearing. just an aunt katie observation. and number 3: they are the cutest kindergartners who ever went to school. they are happy and they are ready!!! hope they had a great first day - can't wait to hear all about it. it does just make me tear up when i think about them walking into their room - especially when i think about little ava who isn't always a fan of the unknown. it's nice that they have each other.
ashley is teaching at their school this year which is such a blessing! i hope i am able to get a teaching job at my girl's elementary school when that time comes. i hope ash had a good day, too! i know she was excited to get back to work after all these years, but i'm sure it will take some getting used to at the same time. i have a big problem with it!! do you know how many times i've picked up my phone to give her a call and then thought...."oh yeah."
i showed my crazy girl this picture today. she loves looking at them. she said, "well, can i go with them to kindergarten???!" and i started to cry and she said, "well, i'm not big but maybe we can just visit them." (clearly we've had this conversation before - she wants to go to kindergarten with them and i've told her that she's not big enough but maybe we can visit them.) so i sure hope their school will allow a little crazy visitor sometime during the year=)
